DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker International is seeking to hire a Full-time Construction Management- Business Development to be responsible for facilitating the Business and Proposal Development Process for Construction Management.

As the Construction Management- Business Development, your main focus is on leading proposal development for Construction Management and Program Management opportunities, but you will also be partially responsible for sales tracking management, capture planning, client and industry engagement, aligning Michael Baker's Strategic Plan to Business Development, and miscellaneous marketing and business development tasks to achieve the National Construction Management Practice's goals for new work added and strategic growth.

In this role, you will work directly with the Construction Management National Practice Lead (NPL-CM).

This position is open nationwide and has flexibility to befully remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Proposal Development (40%)

  • Proposal Manager for priority and strategic proposals for the Construction Management / Program Management Practice
  • Leads proposal development with the Capture Manager
  • Ensures a quality and compliant proposal is submitted on-time to the customer
  • Coordinates priorities with Construction Management National Practice Lead.
  • Serves as Proposal Manager for other pursuits outside of Construction Management Practice if workload allows

Capture Management for Construction Management / Program Management Practice Pursuits (15%)

  • Assists capture manager in developing the living Capture Plan - includes reviewing and providing input for all sections of the capture plan with latest intel, strategy development, action items, value propositions / win themes, teaming, client analysis, etc.
  • Use MBI-approved capture plan tools / templates
  • Co-facilitates capture meetings with Capture Manager
  • Proactively coordinates with internal capture team members
  • Serves as proposal manager to ensure capture strategy is implemented into the proposal and interview presentation
  • Coordinates with proposal manager on drafting strategic narratives for the proposal
  • Ensure OE / RPLs / NPLs are aware of capture efforts and is given adequate opportunity to engage with the capture team

Sales Tracking Management (10%)

  • Ensures single sales opportunity (SSO) leads are timely and accurately entered into the sales tracking program, Oracle's Marketing & Sales Information System (MSIS)
  • Follows MSIS rules and procedures for entering and managing sales opportunities
  • Understands the need and purpose of data requirements for each sales opportunity
  • Maintains the accuracy of all sales records within their area of responsibility
  • Generate reports from Oracle Analytics, as-needed
  • Coordinates with finance team, Sales Leads, Office Executives (OEs), Regional Director (RD), and regional practice leads (RPLs) / national practice leads (NPLs) to maintain sales data integrity, including but not limited to coordinating with :
  • Sales Leads and other BD resources for updating all data fields
  • Project Accountants for SSO budgets, B&P numbers and Stage 5 master agreements

Budgeting / Strategic Plan (10%)

  • Working with NPL - CM to prepare strategic plan in alignment with growth goals. As requested, make modifications to strategic plans to meet adjusted goals
  • Identify key investments requirements necessary to enable strategic plan goals to be met.
  • Assist in preparing white papers / investment descriptions made.

Tracking Strategic Plan (10%)

  • Tracking Funnel Report and Tier 1 pursuits is key towards meeting the Strategic Plan goals. This position will work with the NPL - CM to ensure that adequate resources and staff are being committed to projects.
  • As requested, prepare reports for inclusion in executive level reporting.
  • Assists in after- action evaluation of pursuits to help determine adjustments required for future pursuits.

Client and Industry Engagement (10%)

  • Supports / attends industry meetings, events and conferences
  • Holds pre-engagement meetings / calls with Sales Leads / PMs / RPLs to discuss objectives of the engagement
  • For engagements with clients that require gathering multiple pieces of intel, completes Client Engagement Sheet before meeting / call with client
  • Records, organizes and disseminates information from engagement activities to appropriate personnel - includes detailed intel gathered for capture efforts

Miscellaneous (5%)

Market and needs analysis (clients / opportunities, CIP analysis, industry trends)

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 7 years of proposal development and / or marketing experience in related services.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.
  • Must have strong and effective communication skills and relationships with external clients and teaming partners.
  • Must be a proven self-starter, capable of formulating strategies, goals and objectives resulting in financial benefits to the organization.
  • A significant degree of skills, knowledge, expertise, creativity, collaboration and latitude is required.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $125,000- $150,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.

Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
