What you will do :
This position is responsible for independent work assisting the Chief Legal Counsel in proivding analysis and research on a variety of aministrative matters.
Serves as the Chief Legal Counsel in the capacity as paralegal. Work involves assignments which are broad as to content and require independently making decisions and obtaining solutions by operating within well-established policies, laws, rules and guidelines.
Drafts and prepares a variety of legal documents to be filed in circuit, county, appellate and administrative proceedings under the supervision of an attorney.
Drafts general correspondence and reports.
- Acts as district liaison for public records requests and subpoenas duces tecum
- Receives and routes telephone calls, answering questions which may involve interpretation of policies and procedures and standrad legal questions previously researched by an attorney
- Assists Chief Legal Counsel in review and preparation of documents related to employee and personnel actions including administrative litigation or union grievances;
- Compiles and analyzes data from employment files to aid attorneys in advising management and human resources on employment practices, union grievances, and the administration of collective bargaining agreements;
Assists attorneys in preparing discovery requests and exhibits for union arbitrations and PERC hearings; Assists attorneys in developing responses to EEOC and FCHR complaints when needed
- Acts as district liaison for juvenile incompetent to proceed program
- Maintains court calendars and executive assignment logs
- Manages confidential legal and case files and programmatic records and files
- Receives and processes incoming mail.
- Processes invoices, time sheets, travel and other administrative tasks
- Performs notary services
