General Description :

Facilitates strong communication and collaboration between the Medical / APP Staff, administration, and governing board to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of high-quality medical care in alignment with the mission and vision of Hutchinson Regional Health System.

This position is a 0.5 FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) role dedicated to Chief Medical Officer duties

Essential Responsibilities :

Medical Leadership :

Provide strategic direction and medical leadership to enhance the quality of patient care and outcomes.

Develop and implement clinical policies, protocols, and best practices to ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with the Chief of Staff, Chief Clinical Officer, and other necessary stakeholders, as appropriate, to refine policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to Medical / APP Staff bylaws and policies while optimizing workflows.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in medical practices and procedures.

Provide guidance and promote accountability, addressing conflicts within the Medical / APP Staff or between Medical / APP Staff and other team members, facilitating resolution and maintaining a productive work environment.

Maintain functional and productive relationships with other Medical / APP Staff leaders, such as Chief of Staff, Chief Clinical Officer, and department chairs.

Foster or strengthen a relationship with academic institutions, functioning as a liaison for HRHS to ensure optimal training and experience.

Oversee Medical / APP Staff Services, and provider recruitment and retention.

Clinical Oversight :

Oversee the Medical / APP Staff, including physicians, to ensure high-quality patient care delivery.

Monitor clinical performance metrics and outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to address them.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care pathways and treatment plans that optimize patient outcomes.

Regulatory Compliance :

Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality assurance measures.

Stay abreast of changes in healthcare laws and regulations, advising leadership on their implications and recommending appropriate actions.

General Responsibilities :

Provider Relations :

Cultivate positive relationships with Medical / APP Staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment.

Serve as a liaison between executive leadership and Medical / APP Staff, advocating for physician needs and priorities.

Strategic Planning :

Contribute to the development and execution of strategic initiatives and goals for Medical / APP Staff to drive growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.

Work with Medical / APP Staff to identify emerging trends and opportunities in healthcare delivery and medical technology, recommending strategic investments and partnerships.

Education and Training :

Support educational training programs for Medical / APP Staff, ensuring ongoing professional development and competency.

Foster a culture of learning and excellence, by providing guidance and mentorship to Medical / APP Staff.

Oversee Medical / APP Staff Services / Credentialing and Provider processes.

Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications :

Required Education :

M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school, completion of a residency from an accredited institution.

Preferred Education :

Master’s degree in hospital, healthcare or business administration.

Experience :

Experience in a large group practice and / or integrated health system

Progressive leadership experience in complex healthcare organization.

Certifications / Registrations Required :

Current licensure as an M.D. or D.O. in the State of Kansas; in good standing with relevant licensing bodies.

Member of HRHS Medical / APP Staff in good standing.
