POSITION SUMMARY
The safety and production lead is responsible for safe production at plant operations, including daily safety and health tasks to support compliance, and interacting with plant personnel to achieve high safety, production, efficiency, and housekeeping standards. Responsibilities also include safety and health administration, training, auditing, and providing direction for location safety and health compliance.
This position will be based out of Hunter Stone Quarry in New Braunfels, TX, but will also assist the safety team with visits to the Austin plant locations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Lead safety programs and assist in safety metrics trackingFollow-up on training for all plant and mine hourly employeesPerform office duties, plant duties, equipment repairs, and operate mobile equipmentWork with team members to meet production and maintenance goalsConduct safety, housekeeping, and mechanical inspectionsImplement safety rules and regulations per federal, state, local, and company standardsAssist in developing mining and profit plans, AFE's, and forecastsMaintain safety and training recordsCoordinate scheduled equipment maintenanceParticipate in the plant safety committeeComplete daily reports accuratelyMaintain plant appearance and product quality standardsAssist in training co-workersPerform other duties as assignedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED; occupational health and safety certification is a plusMSHA Blue card preferredSafety Certifications preferred1-2 years supervisory or related experience preferredExtensive knowledge of quarry operations requiredValid driver's license requiredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of MSHA regulations and complianceAbility to exercise independent judgmentComputer skillsEffective communication skills in English and preferably SpanishTeamwork, organizational, presentation, and training skillsKnowledge of plant components and costsWillingness to grow within the companyValid driver's license, good driving history, and meeting insurance requirementsWillingness to travel within the division and districtPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lift up to 50 poundsClimb ladders and work at heights up to 350'Work on mobile equipment, perform manual tasks for extended periodsVisual, speech, hearing, manual dexterity skillsWORKING CONDITIONS
Work in all weather conditions, exposure to dust, noise, and hazards. Must use proper PPE.
