Job Summary
The position of Manager of Alumni Relations and Special Events serves as one of the main ambassadors in the College of Pharmacy by developing and cultivating external relationships with alumni and friends.
While this is largely done through planning and executing events, the overarching responsibility is to proactively engage our faculty, staff, students and importantly alumni.
This position cultivates alumni and other constituents through proactive alumni outreach programs and events. The Manager of Alumni Relations and Special Events reports directly to the Dean and is an important member of the College’s Advancement team.
This position works with minimal supervision and has significant impact on the College of Pharmacy’s operational results.
This position serves as the primary liaison between the College and its alumni, and the College and the Purdue Alumni Association (PAA).
This position works with a wide variety of external parties and is a front line communication between the college and alumni.
This position monitors all aspects of events to ensure adherence to University policies and procedures, compliance with applicable regulations and laws.
Position requires work on some evenings and weekends and some overnight travel is required.
What Are We Looking For :
Required : Bachelor’s Degree
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of four to five (4-5) years experience in event planning, alumni relations, communications, or related field
Excellent oral / written communication skills, and ability to direct multiple projects concurrently and facilitate successful teamwork is essential.
Ability to show discretion in handling confidential information.
Ability to travel required.
Preferred :
Good understanding of media newsgathering operations.
Knowledge of Purdue University and Purdue for Life Advancement policies and procedures.
