Position Overview
The person in this role will provide construction oversight to ensure new locations and renovation projects are completed in accordance with Dutch Bros requirements.
They will also provide management of site feasibility efforts, budgeting, contract administration and negotiation, and field supervision of vendors and contractors.
The Director of Construction will be responsible for providing regional design leadership and design project management for new and existing Dutch Bros shops.
This position partners with real estate, construction, and operations teams, and is accountable for communication, training, and leadership with the SVP of Development and VP of Design and Construction.
The Director of Construction will also ensure consistent brand expression and operational efficiencies in the development of Dutch Bros locations.
Job Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of experience, and prior leadership experience, in Development or related area
Bachelor’s Degree required; Graduate Degree preferred, specifically in engineering, architecture, and / or construction management
Knowledge of construction practices means, and methods, including building systems and their impact on design, detailing, and code requirements
This position is requires driving when necessary
Location Requirement :
Located preferably in the Florida / Georgia area
Key Result Areas
Provide regional design leadership and design project management for new and existing Dutch Bros shops :
Manage overall project close-out and turnover to operations for all new projects and renovations
Support store development and operations goals by participating in planning and strategy meetings for the company-owned markets
Provide design guidance to regional design partners for developing design intent packages, and presentations for local municipalities, design review committees, planning commissions, and city councils
Develop conceptual layouts and exterior brand expression designs for new locations (custom stores, freestanding, conversions, and in lines)
Provide compliant design solutions to code interpretations, building standard requirements, site requests, etc.
Collaborate with other teams and department leadership to be accountable for communication, training, and leadership of the Construction team :
Works closely with Real Estate and Design teams to provide necessary input during site selection and feasibility phase of projects
Assist the Design team in the development of new store designs and the management of outside consultants
Partner with internal Real Estate, Construction, Facilities, and Operations teams, as well as outside architectural and engineering firms to ensure design translation is consistent with brand standards and store vision
Support the Construction Management team by providing clarifications to architectural plans and design services for field modifications
Build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives, while drawing on multiple perspectives and sources to better understand and solve problems
Ensure consistent brand expression and operational efficiencies in the development of Dutch Bros locations :
Responsible for managing and developing project budgeting from site feasibility through project close-out
Manage bid solicitation, negotiations, and contract preparation & execution for all new projects and renovations
Track construction progress and scheduling of all vendor- and contractor-related work
Assist and support bringing to life and growing the company’s design strategy : evolve and grow the document brand standards and vision
Assist on presentations of store design to executive leadership to ensure feedback regarding design innovations and functionality is included in current and future stores
Assist the VP of Design and Construction with the development of your regional construction team
