This position also provides work direction and technical guidance to less experienced staff. The tax accountant contacts clients to resolve minor tax matters.
This role performs tax planning under direct supervision and may be assigned tax in-charge responsibilities. Essential Functions Monitor, manage, pay and reconcile payroll taxes across all employee leasing entities.
Reconcile payroll tax reporting on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis to ensure accurate filings are processed. Manage and monitor tax updates as necessary ensuring accuracy of ongoing filings.
Prepare and monitor quarterly tax filings while verifying accurate headcounts. Reconcile payroll taxes to the general ledger and book journal entries.
Reconcile payroll reports to 941s and W-2s. Advise on tax planning, accounting, and compliance. Assist in developing reporting processes, procedures, and internal controls for the purpose of maintaining the efficient flow and accuracy of tax data-reporting.
Collaborate with state governmental agencies for the purpose of maintaining proper tax reporting in accordance with established laws and / or regulatory guidelines.
Research the implications of tax laws and advise clients on tax-related issues. Required Education and Experience A High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 1-2 years of tax accounting experience is required.
Preferred Education and Experience An Associate’s Degree is preferred along with 3 years of tax accounting experience. Experience with MasterTax Software is also preferred.
