Job Description
Plans, schedules, and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials purchases.
Obtains materials using engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels (i.e., just-in-time purchases, use of EOQ-economic order quantities).
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Resolves discrepancies.
- Ensures material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and / or minimized. Develops specifications for new contract orders.
- Gathers quotations, examines bids and makes awards.
- Monitors cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value.
- Evaluates vendor reliability and develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS / ABILITIES :
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Demonstrates goods judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Interacts with senior internal and external personnel.
- Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
- BS / BA degree in Business or related discipline or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Climate controlled office environment, no physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like. May have limited exposure to manufacturing areas that require the usage of PPE.
Frequently required to sit. Occasional walking, standing, stooping and kneeling. Frequently lift up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
