Position Description
Performs coordinative work in the business or administrative operation of a specific department or college. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a department as well as the monitoring operational procedures.
Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise staff or student assistants.
Major / Essential Functions
Maintain patient medical records in the electronic health record and / or paper charts in accordance with health facility standards and policies;
includes scanning medical information into the electronic health record as appropriate.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all medical records information and complete forms for release of information according to university policies and standards.
- Refer any questionable requests to release patient health information to the Senior Director of the health facility or their designee.
- Perform clerical, administrative, and technical duties such as preparing reports and correspondence, answering telephones, relaying messages, transferring calls, and filing loose documentation generated from inside and outside of the health facility.
- Schedule patients for health services appointments using university information systems and protocols, including medical appointments, nurse visits, mental health appointments, specialty care appointments, and any other patient health encounters according to policies and standards.
- Coordinate with contracted providers and offsite care locations for appropriate referrals and coordination of care for patients needing services by providers outside of the organization.
- Participate and support activities for access-to-care and health quality standards according to the health facility's standards and policies.
- Assist with clinical workflows as appropriate for credential and assigned by the Senior Director or other health facility leadership.
- Work within expected timelines, accuracy, and appropriateness of work based on university policies and standards, and expectations of the Senior Director.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years related experience; OR a combination of education and / or progressively responsible related experience to equal six (6) years.
