Job Summary

  • Under general direction, the Prevention Services Facilitator Foster Youth Services will help design and implement key prevention, intervention and educational services in partnership with local policy-makers, school districts and organizations to benefit children and families;
  • will assist the Director I Foster Youth Services in providing policy analysis and recommendations for consideration by the KCNC Governing Board and other policy making entities;
  • will develop and implement strategies for integrating countywide services that impact children and families with a focus on foster youth;
  • will implement leadership and other training opportunities;

  • Education : B.A., B.S. in public administration, social work, social sciences or a related field of study.
  • Experience : Four years of experience in a relevant prevention, social service, community based activities, including direct involvement with schools and the Kern County Department of Human Services.

Experience working with foster youth and an understanding of the needs of emancipating foster youth desired.Experience in successful grant writing and grant implementation, contracting oversight and evaluation / data collection activities.

Experience in outreach and marketing (including public relations) and the facilitation of community events. Attach any documents that you feel will help demonstrate that you meet the minimum qualifications listed above (i.

  • Each candidate’s application papers and answers to the essay questions contained within the application will be thoroughly evaluated and ranked by a screening committee appointed by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools.

Candidates achieving a rating of 70% or better will qualify to continue in the eligibility screening process. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT : Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license.

Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.

Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.

This position has a probationary period of six months or 130 days in paid service, whichever is longer. The Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying based on actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, marital or parental status or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics .
