Summary
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager’s role will lead the planning, direction and coordination of the CI site plan; that delivers targeted efficiencies, streamline business processes, improved value delivery to the customer, and builds the capability of the site teams.
This plan should be delivered through the application of Simplot Operating principles, standards and the appropriate recognized improvement tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development and management of the site CI departmental budget.
- Responsible for the development of site CI tactical plans. Ensure the site has a CI project pipeline with tracking process for implemented projects.
- Analysis of and identification of bottlenecks to increase the line speeds. Uses X-bar and R-bar charts to prioritize process improvements for processes not in control.
- Facilitates teams in developing and executing lean plans to improve cycle time, inventory, process quality and create capacity.
- Understanding food manufacturing industries and trends, including available and innovative technologies, identifying which of these could be applied locally to help achieve the site vision and working with your manager to determine a plan to implementation.
- Managing nominated key strategies and projects within boundaries agreed between you and your manager. The boundaries and deliverable will vary for each of the strategies and projects and will be defined through tasks assigned to you by your manager.
- Managing the site CI plans including, integrating CI processes into existing business processes and site register of opportunities.
- Reviewing, designing and improving business systems that manage the transfer of data and materials across departmental boundaries.
- Works with national CI team to develop standards, training material benchmarks.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing activities that result in measurable process improvement and flow.
Typical Education
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
Relevant Experience
5+ years related experience and / or training
Certifications
Preferred candidate holds a Yellow or Green Belt in Six Sigma, with a willingness to pursue a Black Belt certification.
Other Information
- Thorough knowledge of Statistical Process Control and Capability principles.
- Extensive knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Sound experience in the food processing industry including HACCP & ISO quality systems.
- Working experience in systems development, implementation and maintenance.
- Experience in developing budgets, capital and cost saving plans.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools, systems and philosophy.
- Excellent understanding of information technology or communications business processes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and lean principles, concepts, theories and practices.
- MS Office software packages and MS Project or similar.
- Able to develop and coordinate and deliver training and education.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization from managers to line operators.
- Shift Manager experience in a manufacturing facility preferred
- Team player with a positive attitude, committed to fostering collaboration and motivating others.
