The Staff Process Engineer is the subject matter expert (SME) for machining in orthopedic implants. You will implement manufacturing CNC projects across the value streams, with a focus on process transformation, new product launch, and improving current machining processes for existing products.
What will you be doing?
- Identify, evaluate, and implement technologies and tools for CNC machining that enable better FPY, reduce scrap and improve output.
- Collaborate with External suppliers (machine manufacturers) and Internal suppliers (multi-functional teams) to design processes for machining new products, improving existing processes, and work on ground-breaking changes.
- Design and / or support manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
- Lead multiple CNC project integrations at the manufacturing site with the emphasis to meet manufacturing requirements of cost, quality and timeline.
- Work with manufacturing engineers on capital projects including financial justifications and monitoring spend.
- Collaborate with other programmers on their projects when they need assistance.
- Become the Subject matter expert in machining of orthopedic implants.
- Provide CNC machining and Programming guidance to programmers, Manufacturing Engineers, Product Development Engineers, and Industrial Engineers.
- Teach and Mentor programmers in CAD / CAM and Machining.
What will you need to be successful?
- BS / MS in Engineering, Science, or related field with 10+ years' professional work in CNC machining and CAD / CAM.
- Medical Device industry experience is a plus.
- Experience with implementing / programming / configuring CNC machine tools for manufacturing.
- Create and maintain multi-axis CNC programs to produce parts using CAD / CAM software. Experience utilizing Vericut and UG NX is a plus.
- Develop CNC machining processes by selecting the chucking device, cutting tools, tool arrangement, and cutting speeds and feeds with emphasis on standardization.
- Experience in understanding various manufacturing Process including CNC milling, turning mill turning, Grinding, and / or polishing.
- Manage multiple CNC project integrations at the manufacturing site with the emphasis to meet manufacturing requirements of cost, quality and timeline.
- Requires standing / walking, sitting, and lifting up to 25 pounds throughout the day.
