JOBSUMMARY

This is an Operationsposition responsible for directing the activities associated withDelivery. Responsibilities include but are not limited to,strategic overview and implementation of projects, expense andrevenue management, compliance with government regulations,management and direction to delivery staff and safety and securityof the deliverydepartment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directthe daily work and safety of Delivery supervisors, routingpersonnel and other associates.
  • Ensure thatmanagement staff is effectively managing the day to day deliveryactivities, including but not limited to Delivery Associateadherence to standard operating procedures, adherence to plannedroutes, and providing safe and efficient customerservice.
  • Assure Delivery Associate compliancewith local, state and federal regulatory agencies (i.e. DOT, OSHA,etc.) and ensure that electronic logs are kept current andaccurate.
  • Direct labor hours, travel, fuel, andconsumable supplies within budget, maximizing time and costefficiencies.
  • Prepare work schedules includingextra work days and shifts as needed.
  • Overseethe proper selection, purchase, and utilization of company assetsin support of the Deliverydepartment.
  • Coordinate required repairs withproper departments as necessary.
  • Observe theeffectiveness of daily routing activities to ensure all establishedKey Performance Indicators (KPI) and Sales / customer satisfactiongoals are met.
  • Prepare budget, profit plans,and capital requests as required.
  • Evaluatemetrics and adjust activities to meet or exceed performanceexpectations.
  • Suggest efficiency ideas, costreduction measures and assist with the implementation of deliverychanges.
  • Monitor the utilization of deliveryservices by reviewing the coordination of backhaul functions andother routing / scheduling activities to increase the profitabilityof all delivery services.
  • Communicate withSales Management and Marketing Associates to collaborativelyresolve any customer or delivery opportunities orissues.
  • Visit customer locations and meet withcustomers to address issues and assess deliverydifficulty.
  • Establish the use and updating ofproductivity and routing softwaresystems.
  • Preserve associate relations throughregular department or pre-shiftmeetings.
  • maintain on-goinginteraction.
  • Keep open communication channelswith associates by answering questions and explaining policies andprocedures.
  • Monitor associatemorale.
  • Submit and respond to ideas to improveassociate engagement and enablement.
  • Interpret,train and consistently enforce company policies andprocedures.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Safetydepartment to aid in training, conducting associate observations,up-dating preferred work methods, conducting accidentinvestigations to determine root causes and routine safetyinspections.
  • Make recommendations fordisciplinary action and / or behavior modification whererequired.
  • Execute management functions of staffselection, development, discipline, performance reviews and / orterminations.
  • Perform the duties of theassociates supervised, and perform other related duties as needed(asqualified).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Bachelor'sdegree.

Experience

7years' related experience and / or training; or equivalentcombination of education and relatedexperience.

Certificates,Licenses, andRegistrations

  • Valid Class ACommercial Driver License meeting companystandards.
  • Complete a Sysco approved defensivedriving program.
  • HazMat and DoublesCertification.
  • Valid Class ACommercial Driver License meeting Company standards preferred

  • Demonstrate knowledge of spreadsheetsoftware and Word Processing software, and ability to learn Syscotechnology software and programs.
  • Must haveexcellent computer skills.
  • Working knowledge ofFederal Motor Carrier SafetyRegulations.
  • Successfully engage and leadindividual and team discussions andmeetings.
  • Apply all relevant policies in aconsistent, timely and objective manner.
  • Ableto work with peers and associates from other departments, operatingcompanies, and Corporate proactively andconstructively.
  • Work in a disciplined mannerand capable of following established procedures, practices andcomply with local, state and federalregulations.
  • Manage the pressures and stressassociated with a deadline-oriented atmosphere and customer serviceissues.

e.training, business continuation, etc.). The associate isoccasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The associate isoccasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

The noiselevel in the work environment is usuallymoderate.
