Hive Laboratory Assistant

Overview : Under the general supervision of the Director of Engineering Laboratories and Innovation Hive Coordinator, the Hive Lab Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the efficient and safe operation of engineering labs.

This position involves collaboration with faculty, staff, and students to ensure proper use and maintenance of labs, classrooms, equipment, and materials.

Responsibilities :

Equipment Assistance : Provide hands-on assistance to students regarding the proper use and setup of lab equipment, ensuring that they have a clear understanding of safety protocols and operating procedures.

Offer guidance on troubleshooting common equipment issues and collaborate with faculty to address more complex technical challenges.

Foster a supportive environment that empowers students to confidently engage with lab equipment while prioritizing safety and adherence to protocols.

• Safety Compliance : Uphold a commitment to safety by actively monitoring lab activities to ensure compliance with established safety guidelines and protocols.
• Lab Support : Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to provide support during classes and ensure the smooth operation of labs.
• Safety Oversight : Ensure labs comply with safety regulations and guidelines. Conduct regular safety inspections and promptly address any safety concerns.
• Workshop Facilitation : Conduct workshops to train students on the safe and proper use of materials and equipment within the labs.
• Equipment Maintenance : Assist in the maintenance and calibration of lab equipment to ensure functionality and longevity.
• Material Management : Oversee the organization and proper storage of materials, ensuring easy access for students and faculty.
• Classroom Setup : Prepare classrooms for lectures, demonstrations, and experiments, including the arrangement of equipment and materials.
• Physical Requirements : Must be able to lift up to 50lbs to support the handling of equipment and materials.

Qualifications :

• Student Status : Must be a full-time registered student at the University of of San Francisco
• Course Requirements : Successful completion of at least one of the following classes is mandatory : ENGR 010, ENGR 020, ART 104, ARCH 104
