UCF Athletics at the University of Central Florida, an NCAA Division I institution and American Athletic Conference (The American) member, is seeking applications for Sports Turf Technician.
The selected candidate will assist the Assistant Director, Sports Turf and Grounds with the preparation and maintenance of athletics facilities, including practice and game fields for baseball, football, soccer, softball, intermural fields and on-campus football stadium.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to :
- Baseball / Softball infield skin management / field repairs
- Field layout and painting of fields / logos
- Situational management of grounds team where appropriate
- Application of fertilizers and pesticides on all athletic fields and maintain records as appropriate
Due to the nature of the position, selected candidate will need to have, or be able to obtain, related State of Florida pesticide licensure.
Minimum qualifications : Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and 1 year appropriate experience; or a high school diploma and five (5) years appropriate experience.
College or accreditation coursework in sports turf, horticulture, or golf maintenance may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Prefer experience in athletic field or golf course preparation, skinned / clay area management experience, and maintenance for athletics events.
Demonstration of advancement in responsibilities and strong communication skills also preferred.
