Advertised Position Title : Generalist, Human Resources
Job Description :
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for delivering exceptional people focused services to support the college's strategic goals, and for supporting the day-today excellence of the Human Resources department.
The generalist will work closely and well with a wide range of people throughout the employee-career cycle, from recruitment to retirement.
This individual will also work collaboratively as a generalist with HR colleagues and employees on a range of HR functions that encompass employee engagement, communications, recruitment, hiring, HRIS, compensation, reporting, performance management and labor relations.
Essential Functions :
Assist in the implementation of policies and procedures. Recommend new approaches to affect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
- Assist in aspects of talent acquisition including utilizing various recruitment avenues to attract qualified skilled talent.
- Responsible for coaching supervisors regarding performance management, recruiting, leadership development, leaves of absence, policy questions and separations.
Maintain a strong understanding of HR and industry knowledge.
Provide outstanding internal and external customer service in alignment with company and departmental mission and vision.
Organize and participate in employee engagement events and activities.
Provide general HR support and completes other HR projects as requested.
Assist with the management of data integrity including separations, personnel transactions, and HRIS / Payroll alignment.
Identify and assess learning, development, and training needs within the College.
Develop, organize, conduct and evaluate training programs.
Draft HR-related communications : memos, policy changes, announcements, other HR related news, etc.
Conduct and / or participate in College committees, focus groups, employee engagement initiatives as requested to improve impact and effectiveness of communications and related employee development goals.
Assists in the maintenance of the HRIS as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Must have advanced computer skills including proficiency Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook);
Workday experience a plus.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Ability to maintain a high level of energy and take a proactive and strategic approach to dealing with issues.
Must have the ability to interact with staff and colleagues resolving problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities in a demanding work environment.
Experience working in a union environment a plus.
Minimum Education Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field from four-year college or university.
Requires one to three years' experience in human resources or related field.
Preferred Qualifications :
Three to five years' experience in human resources functions preferred.
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SH RM-SCP certification preferred.
Minimum Expectations :
Occasional travel between Toledo and Findlay Campus
