Position Purpose

A versatile position within a dynamic nonprofit that provides community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief . The position is full-time and is responsible for managing the operations team to deliver efficient and effective logistical support to the program teams.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to Program Director
  • Roles reporting to position Volunteer Relations Coordinator has dotted line to the Ops Manager
  • Approximate number of reports 1-2

Essential Functions

  • Provides supportive leadership, management, and overall organizational planning to general operations of the program.
  • Manages the Operations Team to deliver an efficient and effective program (base operation, financial management, volunteer coordination and engagement, base logistics, etc.

to support successful project outputs.

  • Supports in recruiting, onboarding, and managing an effective staff team to meet the specific needs of the communities affected.
  • Supports the Program Director and Recovery Manager in empowering staff to carry out their work effectively and efficiently.
  • Support in making sure All Hands and Hearts and the program’s rules are followed; perform disciplinary processes, if needed.
  • Develop an overall budget for the program, including financial forecasting
  • Reconcile operational and project budgets to meet approved overall program budgets.
  • With the support of the Recovery Manager and fellow staff, develop, implement, and review the program’s Emergency and Evacuation Procedures, and Health, Safety, and Security protocols.
  • Work with local partners and create collaboration between us and their organizations.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate communication, training, and rehearsal of contingency plans and organizing periodical risk assessments.
  • Communicate program performance and escalate issues to the Leadership Team on scheduled reporting calls and as needed
  • Support training and skills development for staff and volunteers
  • Ensure effective and constant communication and collaboration with other All Hands and Hearts departments, volunteers and partners.
  • We have decided to relax the requirement for Covid-19 vaccination for on program staff. While we still strongly recommend Covid-19 vaccination, along with other standard and travel immunizations as recommended by the CDC and WHO, Covid-19 vacation will no longer be required
  • Perform other duties as required

Position Requirements

  • Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience in relevant field.
  • Related Experience 1+ years experience working in a disaster response context, preferable with All Hands and Hearts. 1+ years of experience in a role with project management responsibilities, including budget tracking and reporting.
  • Special Competencies / Certifications Good written and oral communication skills and confident working with Google Workspace, particularly Google Docs and Google Sheets;

and Microsoft Office. Applicants need to be well organized and have a flexible approach to managing multiple tasks and prioritizing them appropriately.

The individual is able to manage a large workload and perform in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Constantly works in outdoor adverse weather conditions
  • Frequently moves items weighing up to 40 lbs on work site or on base
  • Frequently operates construction equipment (table saws, impact drivers, drills, and more)
  • Frequently operates computer
  • Frequently ascends / descends ladders and scaffolding
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position
  • Frequent travel

Compensati on & Benefits

  • Typical starting salary is $16.00 - $17.00 USD / hour, and up to $18.00 for highly qualified candidates who have previous experience in this role.
