MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEAD - 2ND SHIFT
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Under direction of the Maintenance Manager, assigns jobs and tasks and monitors the progress of production and maintenance projects and operates as a replacement worker for absent or vacationing mechanics.
- Seeks out ways to improve equipment performance and quality of product. Recommends changes related to equipment use to increase efficiency.
Keeps the supervisor informed of problem areas.
Trains and orients maintenance employees new to the department, acquainting them with the details and functions of their new jobs and how these responsibilities relate to the functioning of the company as a whole.
Responds to and answers any questions new employees may have during their scheduled shift hours.
Performs maintenance work throughout the plant in order to repair production machines, fabricate parts, and rebuild equipment.
Diagnoses and troubleshoots equipment problems. Dismantles, repairs and reassembles complex equipment.
- Operates production equipment to check work, as required. Cleans and lubricates equipment.
- Occasionally performs work in other areas such as building maintenance which could include but is not limited to : landscaping, snow removal, parking lot, sidewalks, traffic signs, monument sign, roof, roof screen, office HVAC equipment, exterior windows, precast panels and other equipment installed on the exterior of the building.
- Maintains and repairs office areas and assists with janitorial work as needed, including but not limited to : cleaning, office waste, recycling removal, lavatory and lunchroom supplies and installation.
- Assists management in installation of new equipment. Works from drawings, verbal instructions and / or sketches.
- Completes routine paperwork as required. Initiates purchase order request forms for parts and supplies.
- Complies with safety and GMP requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to five years related experience and / or training (electrical, machine shop, machine troubleshooting, pneumatics, hydraulics, OSHA standards, lock-out / tag-out, etc.
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- General knowledge of electric, welding and machine shop required.
- Food or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively to coworkers and supervisors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
- Good problem solving skills.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel desirable.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, coaching, training and team-building skills.

- Up to 60 lbs. from 31 inch shelf and 2-hand carry for up to 5 ft. and then return 60 lbs. to 31 inch surface.
