Perkins Coie is seeking a dynamic and qualified candidate to take on the role of Knowledge and Innovation (K&I) Manager with the Intellectual Property (IP) practice.
The K&I Manager will work with the practice to develop a group knowledge sharing and innovation strategy, manage the group’s creation and maintenance of its practice resource collection, evaluate and deploy new technology resources, educate the group in most effectively applying technology and K&I best practices, promote adoption by the group of K&I resources, and facilitate other K&I-related projects at the firm as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knowledge Sharing and Innovation Strategy
- Capture feedback for continuous improvement of K&I products and processes.
- Stay informed about market trends and technology developments applicable to the IP practice.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and K&I professionals on K&I initiatives that span multiple practice groups.
Knowledge Content Development and Management
- Identify, develop, test, and promote templates suitable for automation.
- Oversee K&I projects delegated to associates and business professionals.
- Organize and curate practice sites on the firm intranet to promote and make accessible the highest value content.
Practice Group Outreach and Education
- Provide ongoing individual and group lawyer and business professional training on K&I tools, resources, and best practices.
- Promote adoption of K&I-oriented technologies to better integrate technology into the practice.
- Actively contribute to a culture of valuing and leveraging the firm’s knowledge.
Practice Group Liaison and Concierge
- Assist practitioners with locating practice-related internal and external K&I resources and technologies.
- Evaluate and help deploy new and innovative knowledge and research tools and resources based on practice group needs.
- Contribute to other K&I-related projects for the practice.

- Knowledge of legal technology trends and industry demands relevant to the IP practice.
- Experience evaluating technology tools, building adoption, and managing vendor relationships.
- Fluency in standard MS Office applications and ability to quickly master new collaboration and similar software and tools.
Knowledge of other Microsoft apps, including Power Apps, Power BI, and SharePoint is a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Qualified candidates should preferably have a law degree from an accredited law school and four or more years’ of experience practicing in an IP practice.
Otherwise, candidate must have strong legal and technical experience in an IP practice. Qualified candidates should be able to demonstrate a successful track record in client service and project management.
