Mennonite Village is a not-for-profit, equal opportunity employer, CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) facility that provides 24 hours / 7 days a week care located in Albany Oregon.
We are currently hiring a Team Leader / Med Aide for our Quail Run Assisted Living Facility which cares for aging persons with varying levels of physical, social and mental capabilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Distributes medication to residents in a manner consistent with accepted nursing standards.
- Cleans and restocks medication cabinet routinely; orders new medications as needed; removes outdated and discontinued medication;
non-medication items are to be stored in a separate location.
Evaluates resident in cases of condition changes such as unusual symptoms, changes in ADL or mobility status, accidents, injuries, etc.
Carries out actions to obtain needed care; documents changes and care; reports observations to Health Services nurses. Takes measures to maintain and / or enhance health, mobility and self-care abilities.
Encourages and promotes participation in exercise programs and other activities.
Assigns daily tasks to Residents Assistants including CNAs. Assigns only tasks that RA / CNA is capable of performing. Ensures tasks are completed.
Reports performance issues to supervisor.
- Works with Resident Care Coordinator to assure appropriate staffing levels and staff coordination.
- Performs tasks assigned by Health Services Director as stated in Nursing Delegation Act.
- Uses safety measures for residents and self by using proper body mechanics and best practices.
- Completes documentation responsibilities accurately, including medication sheets, treatment sheets, progress notes, physicians orders, occurrence reports, lab results, x-ray results, and all other related forms.
- Practices standard precautions with every resident. Practices additional precautions per direction of Health Services nurses.
- Schedules MD appointments for residents and arranges for transportation as needed.
- Acts as point of contact for physician concerning resident condition changes, order changes, diagnostics, or transfer orders.
Contacts other facility staff and family members as needed.
- Coordinates services to meet residents secondary needs such as dental services or the repair of hearing aides and glasses.
- Performs general housekeeping tasks (cleaning bathroom, emptying trash, making beds, etc.) as needed.
- Performs duties of Resident Assistant as needed.
- Regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of the job.
- Abides by the HIPAA policies and reports to a supervisor, breaches (or violations) of our HIPAA policies.
- Immediately reports identified hazards or hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
- Immediately reports adverse events and near misses to a supervisor.
- Attends mandatory training on HIPPA and compliance annually.

QUALIFICATIONS :
- Supportive of Mennonite Village Philosophy.
- Certification as a CMA in the State of Oregon preferred.
- Basic understanding of the principles of pharmacology. Understands or is capable of learning how drugs interact with the human body (pharmacodynamics).
- Ability to work with and communicate effectively with the elderly.
- Capable of lifting 10-100 lbs., with occasional lifting of residents weighing over 100 lbs.
- Ability to safely move frequently during workday, including carrying, lifting, standing, sitting, bending reaching, and kneeling.
- Ability to push and / or pull equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Visual and auditory acuity within normal limits
- Must be flexible and responsive to change on short notice.
- Sufficient English and Language skills to follow instruction from staff. Must be able to understand and respond properly to resident needs.
- Ability to accurately document activities in writing.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to work flexible hours, weekends, and participate in holiday activities.
