The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Department of Sociomedical Sciences at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to work as part of a mental illness anti-stigma communication research team led by Dr.

Melissa DuPont-Reyes. The research study aims to disentangle the bidirectional relationship between social media and mental illness among adolescents.

It includes the adaptation of a photovoice intervention for Latinx youth and their parents using participatory action research and a longitudinal survey in a cohort of Latinx youth.

Included is a proof-of-concept pilot project to assess whether this classic community-partnered research yields a greater impact on mental health disparities reduction versus data science and technology approaches, especially when weighed against the ecological costs required to do the research.

The Project Coordinator will work closely with Dr. DuPont-Reyes to assist with data collection, monitoring and evaluation, IRB submissions, and reports.

We are looking for a Project Coordinator with experience in community engagement, research participant recruitment and enrollment, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis skills.

Responsibilities

Assist in conducting qualitative interviews and focus groups (i.e., serve as notetaker during interviews; assist with recording / transcription / translation;

obtain informed consent; participate in transcription, if necessary; support analysis and summarizing of findings), and administration of online quantitative surveys (25%)

Oversee recruitment and enrollment of Latinx adolescent and parent dyads in the participatory action research study, including : outreach for recruitment and enrollment, follow-up to interested eligible participants to communicate study participation expectations with eligible participants, scheduling of all individual and group meetings with participants, creation of promotional documents, creation and processing of participant incentives, regular email communications with enrolled participants, and monitoring and evaluation of outreach efforts with data analytics to inform strategic planning and quality improvement. (20%)

Provide data entry, cleaning, coding, merging, and analysis and data management support to develop abstract and manuscripts for peer review (15%)

Coordinate the schedule of meetings between the research project personnel, advisory board members, and research participants (15%)

Monitor and provide IRB and other regulatory support and reports as needed. (10%)

Create and update research project website and social media platforms for promotional, content-sharing, and research project engagement purposes.

Create promotional materials (PowerPoint slides, posters, social media images etc.) as needed. (5%)

Update progress with Dr. DuPont-Reyes via weekly virtual meetings and attend the weekly research team virtual meetings (5%)

Perform related duties & responsibilities as assigned / requested (5%)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree preferred.

Must be detail-oriented and have strong analytical and organizational skills.

Able to work independently and manage various tasks in a team setting.

Public health research experience in basic quantitative data analysis and in conducting literature reviews and / or qualitative research.

Familiarity with mixed-data collection, management and analysis.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Interpersonal and ability to be flexible to the evolving needs of mental health studies with families

Proficient in the Spanish language.

Computer skills : Microsoft 365; Google Suite; Zoom Conferencing; Meta, TikTok, and LinkedIn social media platforms; Canva, MailChimp and basic WordPress;

Qualtrics or RedCap; STATA or R or other statistical software; NVivo, Dedoose, or other qualitative software.
