The Teacher Education Department at Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Teacher Education, Elementary Mathematics to begin July 2025.
Qualified candidates will support, sustain, and expand a culture of access and equity in the teaching and learning of mathematics.
We seek a colleague possessing diverse perspectives who can engage in the culture of teaching, scholarship, and service within the College of Education, the university, and the surrounding community.
Additionally, we seek a colleague who will actively contribute to the success of our students, the collaborative nature of our department, and the equity-focused mission of our program.
Responsibilities for the position will include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in in-person and virtual formats, advising students, maintaining an active scholarship agenda, and engaging in service within and outside of the university.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Earned Doctorate in Mathematics Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (A.B.D. candidates will be considered and are invited to apply).
- Minimum of three years PK-12 mathematics teaching experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Experience with designing curriculum focused on PreK-6 teaching.
- Evidence of scholarship related to elementary mathematics education.
- Evidence of active service to department and college and potentially the community more broadly.
- Knowledge of Michigan K-12 Math Standards and the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) mathematics-specific teaching practices (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, 2014).
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching mathematics in P-6 classrooms, teaching undergraduate coursework, and supervising fieldwork focused on elementary mathematics.
