Shipping Clerk

Present Position Title : Shipping Clerk

Reports to (Title) : Distribution Center Operations Supervisor

Location : Troy, MI

Basic Purpose and Objective :

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, uses the JD Edwards system to input receivers, loads and unloads trucks, retrieve and store materials in the warehouse, count and box parts, and make necessary inventory transactions.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities :

• Uses computer to make out receiving reports.
• Reports shortages and damaged materials.
• Selects routing and carrier when not specified by customer.
• Arranges for pick-up carrier.
• Makes out bills of lading, following standard procedures.
• Loads and unloads trucks.
• Uses hand trucks and power trucks to move materials.
• Works from load sheets and stock requisitions to disseminate parts to proper area or make ready for shipment.
• Draws raw material from the storage area to supply production departments and return unused materials.
• Counts and boxes production utilizing scales or similar packaging equipment.
• Maintains cleanliness of department and immediate outside area.
• Completes monthly cycle counts in adherence to Corporate guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education Required :

High school diploma.

Skills Required :

• Basic knowledge of computers.
• Organizational skills to ensure proper inventory.
• Communication skills to rely information accurately and efficiently.
• Interpersonal skills to maintain respectful work environment.
• Assessing and resolving problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
• Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and dividing all units of measure. Performing the four operations with common decimals and fractions.
