The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and master's level courses, and support and expand curricular development in construction engineering.
The key duties of this role encompass teaching, research, and service. We seek a candidate with expertise in accelerated bridge construction, emerging technologies in digital modeling and construction automation, construction safety, alternate contracting methods, industrialized construction, or resilient critical infrastructure.
Candidates with industry experience, a potential for securing external research funding, and a deep commitment to teaching are preferred.
Responsibilities include :
- Teaching undergraduate classes and laboratories in civil engineering in general and construction engineering in particular, as well as graduate courses in their area of specialization.
- Supervising undergraduate and graduate-level research.
- Developing and maintaining externally-funded research programs.
- Engaging in activities related to service in the form of students club advising, curriculum development, and shared governance.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience of the individual selected. Qualified candidates with industry experience are encouraged to apply.
Anticipated hiring range : $106,000 - $118,000 per year.

An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in civil engineering with an emphasis in construction engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent is required for appointment.
Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) will be considered but must provide proof that the doctorate was awarded prior to or by the start of the appointment.
Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and laboratory-based instruction, dedication to continued professional development and scholarship, and a broad-based knowledge of construction engineering.
A demonstrated record of scholarly activities related to construction engineering is required. Demonstrated ability in written and oral use of the English language is expected.
The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with students, staff and faculty from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
The ideal candidate will show evidence of attention to and / or the potential to contribute on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion across their teaching, scholarship, and service.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to those who can show evidence of working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
Other preferred qualifications include :
- Two or more years of professional experience in construction engineering in the United States or a comparable international experience.
- Proven record of teaching, published research, and ability to attract external funding.
- Professional Engineering (PE) registration, PMP certification, or relevant licensure.
