CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a Recovery Specialist - Workers' Compensation. The Recovery Specialist is responsible for recovering the cost of benefits paid or establishing a credit on future potential benefits on workers' compensation claims in cases where the accident was caused by a negligent third party.
Job Responsibilities :
Reviews cases designated as potential new subrogation and determines if they are viable third-party cases and provides daily updates of lien amounts and provider payments.
Identifies third party (ies) involved along with liability insurances associated with said parties. 25%
Manages a caseload of up to 200 300 claims; participates in negotiations involving third-party recoveries; protects the company and policyholder recovery rights at settlement conferences and mediations;
and authorizes final settlement of the subrogation or third-party aspect of workers' compensation claims. Coordinates and oversees the outsourcing of litigation to panel counsel on complex recovery cases. 40%
Responsible for communicating with internal and external parties regarding the third party case; provides and secures the necessary documentation to support successful outcomes, including but not limited to, such documents as police reports, public agency reports, and contact letters;
issues appropriate notices. 25%
Monitors and manages the timely receipt of checks in payment of the company’s liens; refers settlement authorizations over authority limit to attorney adviser;
ensures payment process is completed and all documentation is appropriately annotated in accordance with company process. 10%
Qualifications / Competencies :
2-6 years of work experience in the insurance industry in such positions as claims adjuster or subrogation representative is required for this position.
A high school diploma or equivalency degree is required for this position.
- Intermediate to senior level knowledge in the area of workers' compensation law and tort law; basic understanding of rules and regulations pertaining to workers’ compensation and tort claim litigation.
- Basic understanding of rehabilitation and vocational services and how they relate to the negotiation and settlement process.
- Intermediate to senior-level knowledge of negotiation guidelines for third-party settlements.
- Demonstrated experience exercising sound judgment successfully in negotiation situations.
- Basic knowledge of medical and legal terminology.
Salary Range :
- $61,000.00 - $91,000.00 annually
- Compensation may vary depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
- In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.
