Brief RoleDescription :

  • Responsiblefor driving profitable sales growth of the Center of the Platecategories, Beef, Pork, Poultry & Seafood within aregion
  • Collaborates cross functionally (Sales,Supply Chain, Revenue Management) and across entities (Market,Corporate, Specialty)
  • Category expert thatprovides training, product information, regulatory guidance, andmarket cost guidance to internal and external customers in supportof the center of the platecategory.

PRIMARYANDRESPONSIBILITIES :

  • CategoryStrategy
  • Align with SSMG teams to executestrategies
  • Identify business developmentopportunities, coordinate with sales teams (leaders, specialists,sales consultants) to propose newbusiness
  • Compliance with SSMG standardassortment and on-going assortment relatedopportunities
  • Analyze data and market insightsto understand consumer needs and wants
  • Researchcompetitors and suggest appropriatepricing
  • Manage site specific market costdecisions on a weekly basis
  • Collaborating withRegional Revenue Management Director and Regional VP of Merch,utilize available contract programs and resources to providecustomer specific pricing for key Regionalcustomers.
  • Communicatingwith corporate led beef replenishment teams about products andstrategies
  • Provide field feedback on strategiesincluding advising on marketing materials to improvesales
  • Provide planningteam with forecasts for product demandtrends
  • Coordinating new customer on boardingactivities
  • Addressing the needs and concerns ofkey TRS / CMU / LCC customer contacts within theRegion
  • AssortmentManagement
  • Providing product assortment and SKUrationalization recommendations that are aligned with your Regiondemand.
  • Ensure productavailability
  • Design exit strategies forunsuccessfulproducts
  • CategoryTraining
  • Providing SC support through businessreviews, customer insight encounters with targeted training andeducation.
  • Schedule and manage category salestraining of Sales Consultants.
  • Provide timelyand effective communication with Sales force including but notlimited to market conditions, product quality and availability, newitems andapplications.
  • ProductQuality / Quality control
  • Develop and monitor SOPsensuring that pick locations are checkeddaily.
  • Collaborating with Operations and FoodSafety teams
  • Maintain accountability withOperations leadership to ensure aging specifications are beingadhered to on boxed beef assortment.
  • Works withinventory control to manage expiration dating through SWMSreports.
  • MitigateExpense / Shrink
  • Works with inventory control tomanage expiration dating through SWMSreports.
  • Works closely with Quality Assurancelead(s) and in conjunction with Operations and TransportationManagement
  • Establish and maintainaccountability that all inbound product is inspectedthoroughly
  • Collaborate with QA and ProductSupport Advisors to ensure quality and integrity of all inbound andoutbound Center of the Plate products
  • Supportregion adherence to HAACP and other regulatoryguidelines

Education / Experience :

Bachelor'sdegree or equivalent combination of education and experience inlieu of degree sufficient to successfully perform essential jobfunctions required.

Master’s degree a plus.

  • 3+years management / professional experience required (5+ yearspreferred). Significant produce industry experience, sales,merchandising and / or operations experience within a retail,wholesale or distribution environmentpreferred.
  • Strong written & verbalcommunications skills required
  • Strong excelskills preferred
  • Ability to manage &implement innovative strategies to maximize sales & grossprofit potential while driving customer loyalty & MAengagement
