Description

Applied Technical Servicesis seeking to add a Purchasing Manager to our team, who will be the first hire in the procurement function.

This is an exciting opportunity with significant responsibility to analyze the Company’s current purchasing methods and build standard practices across the organization.

This role will focus on optimizing purchasing strategies, improving supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective procurement practices.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter willing to roll up their sleeves while maintaining a strategic vision. This position will report to the Vice President of the Center of Excellence and work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and solve problems.

This is a hybrid role, with preference for individuals in Marietta, GA, or Phoenix, AZ.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts to ensure compliance and savings targets. Continuously review supplier performance (price, quality, delivery times) and seek new relationships when suppliers are not performing.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with fleet management organizations, ensuring favorable terms, pricing, and service level agreements.
  • Champion cost saving initiatives, tactfully introduce change management and monitor organizational adoption.
  • Work closely with P&L leaders to understand necessary supplies for upcoming projects / jobs and monitor inventory levels.
  • Participate in the annual planning process to understand timing and magnitude of large expenditures throughout the fiscal year.
  • Develop and implement purchasing practices that align with the Company’s goals and objectives while tracking compliance at individual location level.
  • Present oral or written reports on vendor activity, KPIs, benchmarking, and cost and scenario analysis.
  • Execute large POs and manage delivery process.

Qualifications

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree - Business, Supply Chain Management or a related field with 6+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar managerial role preferred.
  • Skilled at developing relationships with business partners and serving as a partner and strategic advisor.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management and procurement processes.
  • Experience with multi-location organizations managing different brands and services.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to deliver with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and with senior management.
  • Negotiation skills, ability to work independently, and flexible work style able to pivot when presented with new data or changing circumstances.
  • Builder mentality - identifies problems and thoughtfully lays out and implements systematic solutions.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
  • Experience with purchasing / procurement software a plus.
