Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Housing and the Housing Assistant, the Front Desk Student Office Assistant serves as a University Housing and Residence Life representative and assistant to residents, students, families, and guests.
This position will develop skills in problem solving, critical thinking, confidentiality, communication, customer service, and clerical skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to multiple stake holders including : prospective students, current residents, parents, community members, campus partners and colleagues.
- Answer high volume calls on a multi-line telephone system.
- Assist and greet walk-in customers.
- Provide clerical support to Housing Assistant, Assistant Directors of Housing & Residence Life, and Director of Housing and Residence Life.
- Process and file paperwork
- Handle confidential material.
- Utilize computer-based systems (Outlook, Excel, Word, StarRez).
- Create, maintain and modify Housing documents and templates.
- Assist with coordinating and volunteering at recruitment events on campus.
- Make outgoing phone calls to current and prospective residents
- Performs other related duties given by Residence Life Lead Housing Staff.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a currently enrolled student at Middle Georgia State University
- Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
- Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA
- Be organized and detail-oriented with a strong work ethic
- Ability to focus in a fast-paced work environment
- Demonstrated understanding and value of campus culture and community
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills
- Demonstrates an attention to detail
- Able to work independently as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently live in the residence halls or have lived in the residence halls Middle Georgia State University
- Previous customer service experience
- Be a team-player
- Present self in a positive and professional manner
