This is work that requires good communication skills and ability to work and instruct all building and trades personnel in the performance of their assigned tasks and responsibilities to ensure continued operations of all County facilities.
This person will assist the Justice Center Facilities Supervisor with the supervision, training, and support for the maintenance staff.
Responsibilities will include overseeing outside contract work, as well as internal maintenance personnel.
Generally, the hiring range is $62,256-$77,820 annually. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.

Schedule is four 10 hour shifts, Monday-Thursday. This position also includes a $400 annual clothing allowance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : (The following examples are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive)
- Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, this person will help to document and inventory maintenance requirements for all mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire and life safety systems for the Douglas County Justice Center Facility.
- Assist in maintaining database work orders and record the maintenance history of all facility support equipment and conduct equipment inspections on a regular basis.
- Supervises and assists in work assigned to facilities maintenance staff and assumes the duties of the Facilities Supervisor in his or her absence, to include preparing required reports.
- Responsible for maintaining on-call schedule in absence of Facilities Supervisor.
- Assist in implementing operating policies and procedures to include building security.
Other Duties :
- Responsible for work order, preventative maintenance, and unscheduled maintenance logs.
- Responsible for accurate and up to date key distribution and key control.
- Performs other duties as assigned and maintains current emergency on call postings.
- Coordinates and assists in relocation of office equipment and partitions.
- Helps to ensure that all sidewalks around the Justice Center are free of ice and snow.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Acts as Facilities Supervisor in the event of his or her absence. May supervise inmate labor for work projects.
Ensure a safe working environment for employees and public. Ensure employees have the proper safety equipment and are trained on the proper use of the equipment.
Will attend all meetings and conferences in the absence of the Facilities Supervisor.
CONSEQUENCE OF ERROR : Work involves performing skilled building and grounds maintenance tasks. Consequence of error could result in unsafe or uncomfortable conditions in or around County buildings.
Work involves supervision of maintenance techs, custodians, maintenance assistants, and assistant supervisors.
CONTACTS : Work involves daily contact with other County employees, public, and sales and / or contract personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- Five years’ experience on or with facility mechanical systems and construction skills including supervisory experience
- Familiarity with security operation and emergency procedures is preferred.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge : Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and software applications for building operations, and maintenance. In depth knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, control equipment, and systems such as HVAC, boilers, interior / exterior lighting, plumbing, water treatment, power distribution, construction skills, elevators, building automation, keying, and control systems.
Security knowledge including fire / life safety and emergency procedures.
Skills : Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to follow / interpret mathematical instructions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form.
Abilities : Good negotiating and analytical skill. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to make generalizations, judgments, or decisions based on measurable or verifiable criteria.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
- This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License upon hire, with complying insurance. Review of motor vehicle record is required at time of hire and periodically throughout employment.
- A Federal Universal Refrigeration License within 90 days of hire is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Material and Equipment : Must be able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment such as computers, motor vehicles, power tools, hand tools, and specialty test equipment.
Physical Demands : Work requires the ability to frequently lift and carry 50lbs. Work requires the ability to push and pull 100lbs.

General Work Environment : Work is performed both in an office and in the field under adverse conditions. Some hazardous situations may exist based on work to be performed.
