Provider Engagement and Support develops pricing and reimbursement strategies, credentials, educates and supports our provider partners to establish shared accountability to include the delivery of appropriate, high quality, cost-effective care.
Provider Engagement and Support serves as the liaison between the provider community and Blue Cross, by managing networks, building relationships, providing education, and identifying and resolving problems.

The Provider Digital Product Owner is responsible for the successful implementation of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama's (BCBSAL) provider digital strategy across all provider digital platforms, while driving the delivery of continuous enhancements to the provider digital self-service experience for the web and mobile apps.
The Provider Digital Product Owner also prioritizes and manages the product backlog for IT partners.
Provider Digital Product Owners are responsible for achieving BCBSAL's strategic brand and business objectives by providing digital expertise and guidance to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from across the organization.
This responsibility also includes monitoring digital product performance and operational efficiency of all digital products and services in the Provider Communications portfolio to ensure a streamlined end to end experience for users.
This individual serves a vital role in promoting the integration of cross-functional teams and ensuring seamless delivery of all digital provider communications for BCBSAL.
Summary of Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field
- 3 years of experience being a contributing team member on a diverse team that is successful meeting corporate goals and objectives
- Experience creating strategies with multiple stakeholders and corporate goals in mind and experience working with the team to execute over many different mediums within budgetary constraints
- Broad knowledge of brand guidelines, healthcare operations, strategic and operational planning and project implementation, performance monitoring and budgeting
- Strong organizational and work planning skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills
- Experience building productive team relationships, negotiating and working effectively in leading cross-functional teams
- Experience achieving results and meeting goals
- Experience comprehending and simplifying complex ideas both in oral and written form
- Experience thinking strategically, developing ideas and executing plans
- Exhibit a high degree of problem solving, both creative and analytical skills
- Experience managing multiple priorities, formulating and executing solutions
- Experience making decisions and recommendations in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment
- Experience working with all levels of management, and across divisional lines
- Experience participating in the development of the strategy, execution, and results measurement of their assigned projects
- Experience working with various Microsoft Office programs
- Willingness to travel out of the office and overnight
- Experience managing relationships with our external agency partners, content marketing vendors, and other agencies / vendors is preferred
- Knowledge of healthcare operations within the provider community supported by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama on behalf of members is preferred
- Good knowledge and hands on experience with a Content Management System or HTML / CSS is preferred
- Experience collaborating in a Scrum / Agile environment is preferred
- Experience in using User Experience (UX) / User Interface (UI) design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design is preferred
Work Location
The work location for this position will be full-time remote. Position is based in Birmingham, Alabama.
