Job Overview - Peer Support Specialist :
Join our client in Philadelphia, PA, as a Peer Support Specialist, where you'll be a vital member of a multidisciplinary team, working to empower individuals on their journey to recovery.
This role focuses on offering guidance and mentorship, while supporting self-determination and personal responsibility in recovery.
Compensation : $23 / hour
Location : Philadelphia, PA
Schedule : Monday to Friday (Rotating Shifts)
Responsibilities as the Peer Support Specialist :
- Recovery Support : Assist individuals with mental illnesses in regaining control over their lives and recovery.
- Goal Setting : Provide counseling and support to help participants identify self-determined goals.
- Mentorship : Serve as a mentor to foster hope and empowerment in the recovery process.
- Collaboration : Educate and collaborate with team members to promote empathy and understanding of each participant's unique experience.
- Stigma Reduction : Help participants recognize and combat stigma related to substance abuse and develop strategies to reduce self-stigma.
- Crisis Intervention : Provide supportive assistance in crisis situations, educating peers on effective coping skills. Qualifications for the Peer Support Specialist :
- Education : High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience : 1+ year of work experience in a related field (substance abuse and / or mental health preferred).
- Certification : Must possess a Certified Peer Specialist Certification.
- Skills : Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with individuals in recovery. Application Notice : Qualified candidates will be contacted within 2 business days of application.
