SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The Multimedia Event Technician assists the College with audio, lighting, and visual setup pertaining to public and private non-academic events and activities such as lectures, movies, performances, and concerts.
Collaborates with the Director of Special Events, Conference & Facility Rental Manager, Auditorium Technical Director, and Director of Ringhaver Student Center.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Attend to the sound, lighting and visual needs of all public and private non- academic events on campus This includes but is not limited to attending planning meetings, anticipating multimedia challenges for events, designing multimedia equipment setups and elements for events, and ensuring that equipment is operated properly.
- Maintain audio-visual systems in the Flagler Room, Markland House, Alumni House, Solarium, Athletic Facilities, Gamache-Koger Theater, and Ponce de Leon Dining Hall
- Conducts repairs and preventative maintenance on these systems including tuning and cable repair, internally.
- Contracts and supervises outside vendors in larger scale maintenance, replacements, and installation of systems.
- Advises Lewis Auditorium venue manager in the maintenance and support of non- academic events
- Facilitate non-academic incoming productions, concerts, lectures and events
- Interpret Technical Riders and Technical Requirements for incoming shows or performers.
- Meet with incoming production staff to discuss their technical needs
- Orient facility renters and visiting productions to safety, technical characteristics and other areas of facility operations.
- Recommend and acquire equipment from outside vendors to ensure all event parameters are met.
- Coordinator of set up for Commencement Ceremonies, both on and off site.
- Responsible for recruiting, working with, and training student, alumni, and other workers for Audio-Visual Support specific events
- Recommend, negotiate, and hire vendors as needed for specific events.
- Coordinate with Campus Planner on audio-visual installations
- Recommend equipment and supply purchases when necessary.
- Maintain a list of qualified Audio-Visual Vendors associated with the College.
- Service as summer venue manager for the Lewis Auditorium
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Extensive experience in operating lighting, sound and visual projection equipment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- bachelors Degree
- Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Very heavy work : exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or an excess of 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions.
