Under administrative supervision of the Traffic Operations Department, the Sign CAD Technician performs traffic control functions involving the design and manufacture of signage utilizing Computer Aided Design Software (CAD).
The employee is responsible for material and equipment upkeep, reports and records. This is a technical position, which involves the design, review, and implementation of traffic signal timing plans for isolated and coordinated systems in the City.
This position also provides the following under general direction of engineering; multi-way stop warrants, traffic signal warrants, speed studies, traffic simulations and related traffic engineering studies.
The employee provides technical assistance for general traffic signal design, operations and maintenance and has daily contact with public that requires simple courtesies and exercise of tact and diplomacy.
