Associate Updates Editor (Sports)

Please note that sports and / or streaming knowledge and in-depth research skills are required for this position.

We are seeking a skilled Editor to join our team, responsible for editing new content from our freelance team and ensuring it aligns with partner style guides.

The role involves making revisions, updates, and rewrites to existing content, fact-checking and copy-editing to ensure accuracy, and optimizing content for SEO.

The Editor will also write sports and streaming articles, develop an updates calendar with the Managing Editor and SEO team, and maintain the performance of live articles.

Additionally, the Editor will update a sports tentpole calendar, monitor industry trends, and self-publish content as needed.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Edit new content from our freelance team, following partner style guides
• Make consistent revisions, updates, and rewrites to existing content as needed that follow specific project instructions and brand guidelines
• Fact check and copy edit in addition to larger updates to ensure content is factual and error-free
• Optimize content with SEO guidance to address algorithm updates and maintain Google rankings
• Write sports or streaming articles as needed, including transactional best lists, guides, or breaking industry news
• Work with Managing Editor and SEO team to develop an updates calendar and execute against a consistent cadence, maintaining and improving the performance of live articles
• Own and consistently update a sports tentpole calendar and streaming service source of truth; make timely content updates based on the latest event or product changes
• Monitor industry trends in sports and streaming
• Self-publish updates or new content as needed

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• A Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, or a related field
• At least 2 years of experience in a digital marketing or journalism environment
• Ability to update or write quality, error-free content under fast turnaround times
• Ability to consistently follow AP style and multiple brand style guides
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and own documentation
• Sports and streaming knowledge and in-depth research skills
• Familiarity with SEO best practices and publishing on WordPress or a similar CMS platform
• Preferably East Coast based, but open to domestic US
