Job Overview : A law firm in Austin, TX, is seeking an experienced Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney to join its team.
The role involves providing legal counsel on a range of energy regulatory issues, handling compliance matters and litigation, and supporting energy transactions.
Duties :
- Counsel clients on energy regulatory issues, including market-based rate, market design, generation interconnection, and transmission issues.
- Represent clients in compliance and enforcement matters before FERC, the CFTC, and various exchanges, including conducting investigations, audits, and regulatory compliance work.
- Provide transactional support for energy mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and financing transactions.
- Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and advise on regulatory strategies.
Requirements :
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the State Bar of Texas or ability to waive in.
- 3-6 years of experience practicing energy regulatory law.
- Strong understanding of FERC regulations and procedures.
- Experience with energy transactional matters is highly desirable.
Certifications :
Certification in Energy Law (e.g., through the State Bar or other recognized body) is a plus.
Skills :
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
