Position Focus :
Reporting to jointly to the Vice Provost for Research and the University Executive Director, Corporate Strategy and Engagement, the Corporate Outreach and Engagement Manager, will oversee the full range of relationship management activities for a variety of centers and programs and will be focused on supporting the University’s research initiatives and developing and cultivating relationships with a variety of large corporate donors.
The position will contribute to the development of systems and processes that will support broader corporate strategies and partnerships in support of the academic and research priorities of the university.
This person works closely with colleagues in Yale Ventures, the Office of Development, the Office of the Provost, and other administrative offices as needed to ensure proper alignment with the University’s research and educational priorities and broader strategic corporate engagement strategy.
Essential Duties
1. Work to identify, prioritize, and understand areas of mutual alignment between corporate partners and Yale.
Be knowledgeable of the various university research priorities, broad goals of centers and programs, and the priorities of all company participants and Yale participants.
2. Serve as a liaison between various stakeholders, including but not limited to corporate partners and Yale staff, including Yale Ventures, Corporate & Foundation Relations, and various schools and units.
3. Develop and execute activities / interactions between faculty, researchers, labs, centers, and corporate partners. 4.
Provide ongoing evaluation and assessment of corporate and faculty engagement for Yale and the companies. 5. Review and schedule strategic planning discussions to facilitate future agreements.
6. Deliver best-in-class stewardship for assigned companies and project management, with support from Yale Ventures and Yale communications and relevant business offices, and annual reports for corporate partners.
7. Provide project management for corporate engagement in annual symposia and other activities as needed. 8. Maintain regular communications with all corporate partners and internal audiences;
determine cadence of reports and other communications, delivering reports and communications by the defined schedules and collaboration with company and Yale communications representatives.
9. Oversee planning of all company interactions involving faculty and company representatives, ranging from individual meetings to corporate panels and symposiums, both in-person and via video, with support from staff.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years of related program management or demonstrated relationship management experience.
Required Skill / Ability 1 :
Demonstrated experience in strategic relationship development. Demonstrated experience with fundraising donor relations and corporate relations concepts, principles, techniques, procedures, and practices and developing new corporate engagement strategies.
Required Skill / Ability 2 :
Demonstrated project management skills and demonstrated experience. Creative skills in program design and development. Effective collaborative skills to build trust among faculty, staff, donors, and prospective donors.
Required Skill / Ability 3 :
Effective listening skills to analyze issues and present information and recommendations concisely. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to deal with a wide audience of decision-makers, faculty, staff, students, the general public, private sector administrators, etc.
Advanced oral and written communication skills.

Strong problem-solving skills to make independent judgments and decisions. Skills to work independently with minimal direction as well as work as a valuable, contributing member of a team.

Skills to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality and work with confidential information, including but not limited to donor financial information or anonymity.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills :
Demonstrated experience working in higher education. Demonstrated grant or proposal writing experience; thorough written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience or interest in academic or industry research.
