The Manager of FP&A is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, model management, and financial analysis. The role entails close collaboration with other departments within the company (e.
g. accounting, IT, property operations, SEC reporting, tax, capital management) to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
The ideal candidate will have a solid accounting knowledge base, experience reviewing, analyzing, or preparing REIT financial statements, and a focus on data integrity and process automation.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
- Maintain the company’s integrated financial model and assist in the development, improvement, and documentation of functions within the model
- Oversee the preparation of various financial projections (including property cash flows, debt and hedge projections, capital expenditures, and other areas), validating results and ensuring data integration and centralization
- Project the company’s cash activity and positions at the corporate and subsidiary levels
- Review and manage the preparation of financial reporting deliverables regularly provided to various stakeholders, including senior management and the Board of Trustees
- Oversee variance analysis processes comparing actual results to projections, period-over-period results / projections, and comparison of budget / forecast versions
- Manage the asset recoverability analysis process, reviewing property cash flow projections and valuation inputs and serving as a liaison with the company’s internal and external auditors
- Maintain and review projections of financial covenants for corporate-level debt to assess the impact of financial performance on covenant thresholds
- Assist in the implementation and improvement of financial tools, software, processes, and automation efforts
Qualifications and Skills :
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience with a demonstrated ability to manage a team (real estate industry experience preferred)
- Understanding of REIT financial statements, regulatory requirements, and industry-standard financial metrics
- Advanced Excel skills (experience with Power Query preferred)
- Experience with financial reporting and data modeling platforms a plus (Power BI, Argus, Workiva)
