Summary :
The Survivor Representation Project is a new initiative of the YWCA Union County based out of the Union County Family Justice Center.
During the first year of the Project Coordinator will be primarily responsible for working closely with Office on Violence Against Women and the technical assistance team to develop the parameters of the program and ensure all necessary structures and supports are in place.
Once launched, the Survivor Representation Project will consist of one full-time family law attorney, one part-time immigration attorney and one paralegal.
The Project Coordinator will oversee the implementation of the program and day-to-day operations of the program. The position will work closely with the Director of the Family Justice Center to ensure client and staff needs are being recognized and addressed.
Experience / Knowledge / Specialized Training :
Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and two years of experience working in the legal services or human services field with at least one of year of supervisory experience.
Must have some knowledge and understanding of domestic violence, trauma and immigration. Familiarity with the court system a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft office, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Bilingual English / Spanish a plus.
Essential Job Duties :
This includes but is not limited to the following :
- Creating and maintaining policies and procedures for the program.
- Coordinating regular meetings for all stakeholders in project including internal YWCA team members and external Family Justice Center partners.
- Become familiar with the partners and legal referrals used by the FJC and refer victims as necessary.
- Documentation : maintain case records for clients, and maintain other records as needed.
- Participate in monthly project team meetings with the Director of Family Justice Center, weekly FJC meetings and weekly supervision meetings.
- Assist with any funder reporting requirements.
- Attend monthly YWCA staff meetings.
- Complete 40 Hour Domestic Violence training.
General Agency Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in community and board of director meetings as needed.
- Represent the Agency to other organizations as assigned.
- Represent the YWCA on external committees, as appropriate.
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings on a regular basis
- Other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
