Job Description

The Estimator role at Franz Witte Landscape Contracting Inc, is integral to achieving success in the Installation (Construction) department and will prepare accurate estimates for construction projects, both residential and commercial;

will be involved in gathering multiple quotes from all vendors, reviewing specification books, attending pre-bid meetings, understanding wage determinations, and ensure our business management software has an accurate and current price list for all estimators to work with.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to read blueprints, review and interpret project specifications, plans, contract documents, and produce accurate material take-off’s
  • Produce accurate, thorough and complete estimates using company tools & software
  • Assist other company managers in preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Gather and analyze effectively multiple quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Review and interpret project specifications, drawings, and contract documents
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to understand project requirements and constraints
  • Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and team members
  • Maintain pricing catalogue items and pricing to reflect current costs and pricing
  • Maintain estimating system production rates
  • Clear understanding of public works requirements for developing accurate estimates
  • Support Snow Removal Services during winter season

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Good communication skills; effectively communicate in English verbally and written
  • Proficiency with computer software; MS applications, AutoCAD, Landscape industry business management software (LMN, Aspire, etc.)
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
