Responsibilities / Duties

The Account Manager is responsible for maintaining and managing relationships with existing clients while facilitating the sale of new professional landscape management services, primarily for commercial and multi-family properties in southeast Wisconsin.

This individual is expected to deliver exceptional customer service and foster long-term client relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sales Coordination : Manages all stages of landscape maintenance sales.
  • Contract Renewal : Renews existing contracts for Landscape Maintenance and Snow Removal by ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Process Improvement : Recommends process improvements to optimize sales and customer service.
  • Training and Mentoring : Assists in training and mentoring new staff members.
  • Marketing and Networking : Participates in marketing activities, including prospecting and attending networking events.
  • Contract Preparation : Prepares contract and presentation materials.
  • Client Presentations : Presents information to clients and negotiates contracts.
  • Problem Analysis : Diagnoses horticultural issues and collaborates with the Landscape Maintenance Division Manager and Coordinators to find effective solutions.
  • Confidentiality : Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary information.
  • Client Relations : Maintains and nurtures positive relationships with current and potential clients.
  • New Client Acquisition : Continuously seeks new clients for Landscape Maintenance and Snow Removal, aiming to meet or exceed sales goals in revenue and profit margin.
  • Client Follow-Up : Regularly follows up with clients to ensure satisfaction and that all needs are met.
  • Project Coordination : Coordinates with team members on project specifics and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Communication : Ensures clear communication of contract specifics to the production team and maintains concise communication with clients.
  • Project Enhancements : Pursues enhancement project requests and collaborates with the Small Projects Estimator to create estimates.
  • Sales Training : Participates in ongoing sales training and stays updated on sales techniques and landscape services.
  • Safety Compliance : Follows company safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Additional Duties : Performs other tasks as assigned by the supervisor / manager.

Working Conditions

  • Indoor and Outdoor Work : Duties are performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Standard Office Conditions : Involves exposure to office environments with heating, air conditioning, and computer operation.

Education, Certification, and License

  • Education : A degree or relevant experience in landscape management is required.
  • Driver’s License : A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is necessary.

Experience

Landscape and Sales : A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in landscape maintenance and / or sales is required.

Specific Requirements

  • Customer Relationship Management : Demonstrated success in building and maintaining customer relationships and providing excellent service.
  • Landscape Knowledge : Strong understanding of landscape maintenance, horticulture, and plant material, including perennials.
  • Proposal and Contract Expertise : Knowledge of proposal and contract creation processes.
  • Technical Skills : Understanding of plant identification, pathology, entomology, and turfgrass management techniques.
  • Project Management : Ability to manage workloads effectively within deadlines and budgets.
  • Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse team.
  • Software Proficiency : Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Access.

Physical Requirements

  • Mobility : Frequently stands, walks, sits, talks, and listens for extended periods.
  • Physical Activity : Squats, stoops, or kneels; occasionally lifts objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Reaching : Occasionally required to reach above shoulder level.
  • Vision and Motor Skills : Requires vision and fine motor skills for computer use.

Job Specifications

  • Position Type : This is a full-time, year-round exempt position.
  • Work Schedule : Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM, approximately 50 hours per week.
  • Seasonal Adjustments : Saturday and occasional evening work may be required during peak seasons or as needed.
