Position Overview :
The Director of Contracts will oversee the full life cycle of contract management, from proposal development and contract negotiation through execution and closeout.
This position requires in-depth knowledge of government contracting, industry best practices, and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate will provide strategic direction to the contracts team, ensuring that contracts are managed effectively, risks are minimized, and all contractual obligations are fulfilled.
This role is critical in ensuring the company's continued growth and success in both government and commercial sectors.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage the contracts department, ensuring compliance with all federal regulations (e.g., FAR / DFARS) and company policies.
- Oversee the review, negotiation, and management of all contracts, including government, commercial, and subcontractor agreements.
- Develop strategies to manage various contract types, including Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP), Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF), Cost-Plus-Award-Fee (CPAF), Time and Materials (T&M), and Indefinite Delivery / Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts.
- Provide expert analysis of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Quotations (RFQs), identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Lead contract negotiations with clients, partners, and subcontractors, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related communications with government agencies and industry partners.
- Oversee contract modifications, extensions, and renewals, ensuring all terms are in the best interest of the company and comply with applicable laws.
- Monitor contract performance, ensuring timely fulfillment of contractual obligations and resolving any disputes or issues that arise.
- Collaborate with business development, legal, finance, and project management teams to ensure alignment on contract strategies and execution.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of all contracts, maintaining a detailed audit trail and up-to-date records.
- Lead and mentor the contracts team, fostering professional development and ensuring high standards of performance.
Experience and Skills :
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Contract Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in contract management, including significant experience in government contracting.
- In-depth knowledge of FAR, DFARS, GSA schedules, and other relevant government procurement regulations.
- Proven experience with various contract types, including FFP, CPFF, CPAF, T&M, and IDIQ.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze RFPs and other solicitations, identifying risks and interpreting complex requirements.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with government agencies, industry partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Exceptional leadership abilities with a track record of successfully managing and developing a contracts team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), or similar certifications are a plus.
