Job Summary
Responsible for the set up of telemetry on physician orders by ensuring proper placement of electrodes, running strips, and replacing batteries as needed.
Job Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the monitor technician include reviewing cardiac rhythm patterns, identify rhythm abnormalities, noting irregularities in the monitoring patient log, ensuring that heart monitors are functioning correctly, and reporting any patient cardiac charges to the nursing staff.
Monitor technicians, should have good analytical and technical skills, a working knowledge of medical equipment and software, as well as good communication skills when interacting with staff and the ability to remain calm in stressful environments.
Education
A High school diploma or GED.
An EKG or monitor technician associate degree, diploma, or certification is preferred.
Experience
A minimum of 6 months experience in cardiac monitoring or hospital clinical environment.

EKG Test with a passing score of 90 or higher
LI-OB1
Selects, sets-up, calibrates and adjusts monitoring equipment in accordance with physician orders. Ensures continued proper functioning of equipment;
troubleshoots equipment problems as identified. Collects, transmits, and documents pertinent patient data to the Registered Nurse (RN) with correct interpretations and interval measurements on each patient at required intervals every shift and with any significant rhythm change.
Maintains current monitored patients in the system; confers with nursing staff to determine correct validation counts and alarm parameters for patients.
Reports alarms and changes of rhythm to RN staff. Greets, screens and processes incoming unit / dept calls, patients, visitors, and messages.
Transcribes physician orders, enters tests, and treatment requests into system. Assembles and maintains patient medical records including posting of results.
Education :
Required : High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience :
Required : Successful completion of EKG class. Familiar with medical terminology.
