What We are Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Staffing & Development Manager, located in Chicago, Cleveland or Columbus, to join our People Team to assist in leading the critically important function of staffing client team projects and developing consulting team members through staffing, feedback, and mentoring.
Objectives of role
- Act as a partner to the Staffing Lead within the integrative staffing function, creating consistency and connections across the organization from capacity planning to hiring and development of team members.
- Optimize project team staffing to meet business priorities, team structure, and team members’ availability, skills / expertise, and interests.
- Ensure projects are properly resourced to run efficiently to meet client deadlines. Maintain open and active lines of communication throughout the organization to identify misalignment of capacity and demand and to identify solutions.
Core responsibilities
- Bring a pragmatic business- and people-focused perspective to the enforcement and / or creation of staffing guidelines and expectations for the Delivery organization.
- Leveraging existing data and tools, assist in maintaining an accurate and detailed view of capacity relative to demand.
- Build strong relationships with Delivery and BD stakeholders to understand the project pipeline and project requirements, optimize staffing levels, and balance priorities.
- Proactively communicate with Delivery team members to understand development needs and preferences for staffing; discuss upcoming projects;
communicate staffing decisions and related rationale.
- Track experience, capabilities, skills, and interests of all Delivery team members.
- Maintain / provide up-to-date, accurate information regarding project assignments and constraints that impact project capacity including, training, vacation, recruiting, etc.
within existing resource management software.
- Play a supporting role in the Delivery performance review meetings, providing guidance in the resolution of problems, communicating performance expectations, and supporting calibration leads, Development Advisors, and team members through role transitions and support achieving development goals.
- Be a go-to person for the early career development of BAs and Associates.
- Advise leaders on team structure and best practices and partner with project leadership to drive usage of team tools including team barometer.
- Collaborate with Human Resources team to leverage people management experience to be aware of and appropriately coordinate with HR on sensitive issues faced by individuals.
- Provide fact-based, concrete details on team member availability and performance in staffing projects,
- Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to : Identify development needs and skills required on projects that L&D can support through learning content,Identify coaching needs of team members to L&D to identify the best intervention,Keep finger on the pulse of the culture, identifying and clarifying any staffing-related issues that need to be addressed,
- Support design of learning and / or act as faculty on relevant topics.
- Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to support the staffing process for the summer intern program, ensuring positive team experiences for all interns.
- Collaborate with non-Delivery Leadership on staffing and developmentProvide staffing perspective and expertise to non-Delivery leaders to support effective staffing within functionsSupport the development of team members
- Other responsibilities as identified by Leadership Team and VP for Client Team Staffing.

Qualifications and Experience
- Level based on qualifications and experience of candidate. Minimum expectations detailed below.
- Undergraduate degree required. Advanced degree appreciated.
- 7-10 years of relevant work experience, with knowledge and interest at the intersection of business and people development.
Strong preference for 3+ years of professional services firm experience. Prior experience in a staffing role not necessary, but highly valued.
- Advanced MS Office suite required, particularly Excel, knowledge of PowerBI, Tableau software knowledge a plus
- Resource management, HR, people systems experience a plus, including Kantata / Mavenlink
Location and Structure
Proximate to one of our three office locations (Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus). Expect regular travel to locations, particularly in the first year.
Expect four days in the office (Monday-Thursday), on average.
Reports to VP for Client Team Staffing.
