Wisconsin Electric Power, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking an Engineer at our Milwaukee District Energy Headquarters location.
This position is part of a job family (Associate Engineer / Engineer / Senior Engineer / Principal Engineer) posting where the experience of the selected candidate will determine the level offered.
Job Summary
The Engineer will function in a project management and maintenance engineering role. They will be responsible for all district heating system infrastructure such as tunnels, trench boxes, manholes, etc.
They will also be responsible for all mechanical equipment and systems such as piping, steam traps, valves, pressure regulators, meters, etc.
The engineering assignments will be of moderate scope and complexity. Those assignments will encompass a variety of projects that will involve some work in the field.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage capital projects and act as a key player in the management of a multi-million dollar capital budget.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and other Engineering personnel to maintain reliability of system tunnels, piping, steam traps, valves, and all other mechanical equipment and systems.
- Install new / maintain steam piping and structural facilities.
- Utilize surveys to locate underground utilities while planning new installations.
- Work with corporate personnel, customers, other utilities, and city and state officials as necessary depending on project needs.
- Coordinate traffic control plans as required.
- Analysis and recommendations of design options, recommendations for structures, systems and components, preparation of engineering designs, material and constructions specifications and cost estimates, review of internal and external construction plans and implementation of construction activities for more complex projects.
- Performs more complex engineering designs, engineering calculations and system modifications. Updates drawings and other engineering documentations and maintains corporate records by filing in accordance with business unit guidelines.
Leads Root Cause Analysis activities.
Knowledgeable of design basis for system responsibilities. Understands and utilizes knowledge of interconnected systems to troubleshoot and improve performance.
Utilizes performance monitoring / optimization tools, calculations, tests and engineering analysis to develop recommendations to maintain and improve plant, system and / or equipment performance, efficiency and reliability.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of related experience
- District Heating system experience
- Project management experience involving capital projects
- Experience with tunnel system structures, excavation, steam piping, and / or cost estimating
