General Description :
The School Nutrition Services Financial Operations Supervisor is crucial in administrating and overseeing
financial controls within the Office of School Nutrition Services. The Financial Operations Supervisor will
work closely with the SNS Director to maintain the fiscal integrity of the nutrition services operation
through financial planning, budgeting, analysis, and reporting activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Collaborate with the SNS Director to orchestrate the creation of the budget for the Office of School Nutrition Services
- Manages financial planning, budgeting, and reporting activities related to the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program, Child Adult Care Food Program, and Summer Food Service Program
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the Office of School Nutrition and school division goals.
- Monitor and document incomes, expenditures, profit / loss, and other financial aspects
- Manages the workflow of purchase orders for departmental goods and contracted services
- Conduct administrative audits, budgetary and operational reviews, inventory audits, and other procedural reviews, and assist managers with corrective action
- Assist with the preparation of product specifications, requests for proposals, invitations for bids, and quotes for food, equipment, supplies, and services
- Assist in the preparation of facility and capital improvement plans for the Office of School Nutrition Services
- Manage the preparation of reimbursement claims for submission to relevant agencies and verify the accuracy of meal count data regularly
- Inspect and approve invoices and vouchers before payment submission
- Ensure the accuracy of payroll data and resolve any discrepancies promptly
- Supervise and evaluate all assigned positions within the Office of School Nutrition Services
- Occasionally visit school sites to become acquainted with operational-specific needs
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field required
- Three to five years experience in fiscal management and reporting, preferably in a school division, non-profit, or similar administrative environment
- Experience supervising a team, preferred
- Knowledge of USDA Child Nutrition Programs desired
- Proficient in the use of financial software and tools and the ability to apply computer-based spreadsheet applications
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills to identify and interpret trends in data and areas of opportunity
- Ability to develop and deliver professional learning on a variety of topics to division-level and school-based administrators and staff
- Bilingual fluency / Spanish preferred
