Job Description :

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking a District Manager - Rail to support field services for Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, State DOT's, as well as Railroad Suppliers, Contractors, and Consultants alike.

Required Education :

Bachelor's Degree in Railroad Engineering, Railroad Design, Railroad Construction, and / or Railroad Business (Preferred).

Equivalent combination of technical training and / or related experience.

Required Experience :

Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in Railroad Engineering, Railroad Design, Railroad Construction, and / or Railroad Business (Class 1 Preferred).

Job Requirements :

  • Proven experience as a District Manager, Project Manager, or Senior Project Manager.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated team building and verbal / oral skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail required; well organized.
  • Strong technical writing ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Direct, develop, and evaluate projects using accepted project management methodologies.
  • Develop criteria for evaluating programs, schedules, and other pertinent information related to project assignments.
  • Develops project schedules, work plans, resources requirements, cost estimates, and projections.
  • Monitor and manage project quality to ensure project deliverables are acceptable and fulfill the terms of the project contract and / or specifications.
  • Identify potential project risks and difficulties and design strategies to mitigate or avoid them.
  • Compile and distribute project information, status reports, and project expenditures.
  • Create documentation procedures to capture and deal with changes in original project plan.
  • Monitor and manage employee overtime and expenses.
  • Plan, assign, and / or supervise the work of others.

Job Duties :

  • Manage rail, transit, and / or roadway projects.
  • Manage staff and activities for projects varying in size and complexity and coordinate schedule, procedures, and resources needed to accomplish project objectives.
  • Establish work plans and staffing for each phase of project and arrange for recruitment and / or assignment of project personnel as required.
  • Communicate with executives and recommend project alternatives and / or schedule changes.
  • Manage all aspects of the entire project life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close).
  • Review status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepare project reports for management, client, and / or others.
  • Effectively lead and coordinate the activities of the team.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Identify and manage tasks as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
