PASP (Post-Acute Specialty Program) or 5 North is a 22-bed unit that provides an environment for adult patients requiring care beyond the acute phase.

PASP has a team of dedicated physicians, RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Technicians, Rehabilitation and Respiratory Therapists, Dietitians, Wound Care and other health care practitioners that provide individualized, around-the-clock patient care.

This care team opens a wide variety of doors to learning and working in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary group. We care for a wide-variety of patients with many conditions including wounds, infectious diseases, organ failure, vascular disease, post-surgical complications, multi-system disease, trach / vents and more.

The majority of the staff have been employed on this unit for greater than 10 years and consider each other family. We invite you to explore our unit and get to know us as a team.

Job Description

Full Time, Rotating Schedule : 7am-7pm / 7pm-7am

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The Clinical Nurse I, RN Graduate, is a member of the health care team and renders nursing care to all patients within her / his assigned unit / area, assuring the nursing process is followed from admission through discharge.

The CN-I collaborates with other members of the health team, delegates appropriately to support staff and directs care to assure the patient’s care needs are met.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing education program approved by the Board of Nursing or found by the Board to be substantially equivalent to the programs in Maryland.
  • Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland. Successful completion of a refresher course within past 6 months if nursing practice has not occurred within the past 5 years.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
  • ACLS Provider Completion within 1 year of employment in the following departments : ICU / IMC, PACU, Interventional Radiology, GI Lab, and ED.
  • PALS Completion within 1 year of employment in the following departments : PACU and Emergency Department.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters.

Demonstrated / documented effective interpersonal skills.

  • Maintains updated hospital safety and other mandatory training.
  • Updated immunizations as recommended per practice area.
