Job Summary

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Conduct & Community Standards, the Assistant Director of Student Conduct is responsible for assisting in the management of the student conduct program for the university.

The Assistant Director of Student Conduct provides leadership and support in promoting the mission and goals of the Office of Student Conduct.

In addition, the Assistant Director supervises the Student Judiciary Council and student learning initiatives, serves University Housing by assisting with Student Conduct issues and initiatives that occur in housing, and facilitates the office assessment plan to ensure departmental / divisional goals are met.

Responsibilities

Support University Housing by overseeing alleged violations of the Code of Student Conduct and the Residential Community Guide that occur in the Residence Halls.

Support to include maintaining a conduct database, providing statistical reports on cases, training conduct and hearing officers within University Housing, and communicating policies, procedures, and updates from the Office of Student Conduct

  • Supervise the Coordinator of Student Conduct position
  • Oversee the Student Conduct assessment plan and generate reports that demonstrate the effectiveness of office initiatives and programs, and ensure they support division outcomes, and the university strategic plan
  • Oversee the Student Organization conduct process, including investigations, adjudication and engaging in strategic partnerships around education and prevention.

The Assistant Director will work closely with the Associate Dean and the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, Student Activities and other campus offices to ensure Student Organizations are compliant with policy and informed of the student conduct process.

This includes conducting training and educational sessions to students, student leaders and other stakeholders.

Oversee the new Student Judiciary Council (Eagle Ethics Ambassadors), to engage student leaders in the conduct process, help them grow in their leadership, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.

This position will oversee the training process for the Student Judiciary Council members

  • Facilitate educational outreach activities and development of office resources, including written materials, website information, training / workshops, educational seminars, and other resources as determined appropriate
  • Adjudicate cases of alleged student misconduct
  • Serve as a hearing officer / investigator for violations of the Code of Student Conduct, and the University Academic Dishonesty Policy
  • Assist the Office of Title IX with hearing and processing cases
  • Assist the Associate Dean of Student Conduct & Community Standards in the development of policies and procedures
  • Assist with the facilitation of Alcohol and Other Drugs programming as part of the student conduct sanctioning process
  • Offer additional support for department initiatives on the Armstrong and Liberty campuses
  • Serve as a resource and consultant to students, faculty, staff, and community members
  • Oversee the management and training for all new employees in the Office of Student Conduct
  • Participate in division-wide and campus-wide initiatives and programs
  • Utilize Maxient for database administration of student conduct cases

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related area

Required Experience

Three (3) to five (5) years of work experience in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Student Conduct, and / or Judicial Affairs

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related area

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Student Conduct management database (Maxient, etc.)
  • Experience with assessment

Proposed Salary

$50,000

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
