Job Summary / Description :
This position works to build and execute on-air, online, and streaming weather forecasts for KGNS+ Spanish-speaking audiences during the weekdays.
KGNS is looking for a Meteorologist or weather anchor for our Telenoticias Spanish Newscast to round out our award-winning team of on-air journalists.
This person will be a leader in the newsroom and the ideal candidate is a self-starter who will help contribute to our content on all platforms.
This is a high-profile role at a dominant, legacy news station. This position covers PM weather shifts in addition to filling in on other shifts and shifts with severe weather coverage as needed.
This position works closely with the weather team to create content for our live streaming platform, mobile apps, and social media.
Duties / Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) :
Contribute to the Spanish evening newscasts
Update KGNS + mobile apps
Monitor and update social media posts
Create weather storytelling content and graphics for all platforms
Assist other Meteorologists during severe coverage
Fill in for other Meteorologists
Provide live coverage in the field if necessary
Make school and community appearances on behalf of the station
Qualifications / Requirements :
Fluent Spanish speaker
Bachelor's degree in meteorology or related field, preferred
Internship,- years of weather forecasting experience, preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with digital video cameras, non-linear editing, and Social Media platforms
Valid Driver's License
