GENERAL PURPOSE :
This position entails supporting the financial analysis and accounting processing of our Energy and Corporate functional areas of the company.
Key responsibilities involve posting cash receipts, reviewing and processing commission payouts, expense reporting management, and analysis on cash discrepancies along the way.
Other duties include 1099 reporting, meter review analysis, and producing sales commissions, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
You'll also support ad-hoc incentive commission payouts, manage tax filings, and maintain sales quotas for internal representatives.
General Ledger Accounting & Financial Analysis
- Monitor accounts receivable and work on collection efforts
- Perform analysis on difference between posted and expected cash collections, and follow up with customers to determine what caused variances
- Communicate with internal and external sales partners to answer questions relating to commissions
- Produce sales commissions for internal sales representatives on both a monthly and quarterly basis, checking for accuracy and reasonableness compared to prior periods
- Calculate and produce ad-hoc incentive commission payments for internal sales representatives
- Maintain and update sales quotas for all internal sales representatives
- Prepare special project analyses as required
- Compile information for external auditors as required
- Assist with monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and various general ledger accounts
- Review vendor invoices for appropriate documentation and adherence to company policies, paying particular attention to reasonableness
- Secure / verify approvals on all invoices, expense reports and check requests
- Charge expenses to appropriate accounts by analyzing invoices and expense reports, and recording entries, utilizing Concur and Bill.com
- Credit card transaction imports and reconciliations, utilizing Concur for further uploading into Sage Intacct
- Troubleshoot any and all AP related discrepancies
- Manage tax filings for the Energy functional area, in addition to Corporate returns
- Reconcile vendor statements & 1099s
- Maintain vendor 1099s
- Assist with month-end accruals
- Research and recommend programs, policies and procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the accounts payable function, including internal controls and customer service
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
- Analyze and post cash receipts from customer commission reports, and resolve errors from cash receipt postings
- Provide weekly AP listing or payment approval. Items not approved to be communicated for cash forecasting
- Close commodity contracts in CRM, ensuring that terms are accurate
Qualifications
- 4+ yrs experience in staff accounting, general ledger accounting, or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- Exceptional competency with accounting software
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Advanced communication skills, verbal & written

- Experience as a key contributor of a team within a growing company
- Experience in the Retail Energy market

$75,000 - $95,000 a year
